We want to be a company that shares dreams and inspiration.
For more than 50 years since our establishment, we have owned intellectual property (IP) through the production of content in the entertainment industry, particularly in the fields of animated characters and sports, and have developed our license business, including character merchandising, with our business partners.
In recent years, with the spread and development of new platforms and new media services, the environment surrounding us has been changing in various ways. The value of using content is becoming more complex, the ways to enjoy it are becoming more diverse, and expectations for content that can be used as various forms of entertainment are rising.
“We want to be an entertainment company that shares dreams and inspiration with children around the world.”
This wish has remained unchanged since our establishment.
We believe that we can share “dreams and inspiration” with many people across generations by creating content with unprecedented appeal and nurturing and growing that content together with everyone.

HISTORY
10/1965 Founded at Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo as “Toyo Agency.” Designated by the popular Japanese baseball team Yomiuri Giants as their exclusive agency for planning and sales of goods, and started a licensing business and carried out other management on their behalf.
04/1972 Broadcast of “Thunder Mask,” the first TV program produced by the company. Simultaneously started character licensing business.
08/1977 Company name changed to “SOTSU AGENCY CO., LTD.”
10/1977 The company’s first TV animation program “SUPER MACHINE ZANBOT 3” broadcast. Animation character rights acquired, and the business expanded.
04/1979 TV animation “MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM” broadcast.
10/1984 Expansion of the business means that the company main office moved to 5-9-5 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
03/1985 “SOTSU FILMS CO., LTD.” established, for planning and production of animations.
10/1988 TV animation “ANPANMAN” broadcast.
10/1997 Capital provided for “J-BROAD CO., LTD.”, which provides a job hunting information service.
04/2003 Listed on the JASDAQ Stock Exchange.
08/2003 Expansion of the business means that the company main office moved to 5-12-5 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
12/2004 Cancelled registration from the Japan Securities Dealers Association, and listed stock on the Jasdaq Securities Exchange, Inc.
04/2007 Trade name changed to “SOTSU Co., Ltd.”
04/2010 Listed on the Osaka Securities Exchange following the merger of JASDAQ Securities Exchange and Osaka Securities Exchange.
07/2012 Expansion of the business means that the company main office moved to 2-4-1, Hamatatsu-cho, Minato-ku, Tokyo.
07/2013 Listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange with a JASDAQ Standard Index following the market integration of Tokyo Stock Exchange and Osaka Securities Exchange.
12/2019 Became a subsidiary of BANDAI NAMCO Holdings Inc. through a takeover bid.
02/2020 Delisted from the Tokyo Stock Exchange with a JASDAQ Standard Index.
03/2020 Became a wholly owned subsidiary of BANDAI NAMCO Holdings Inc.
04/2021 SOTSU CO.,LTD and SOTSU ENTERTAINMENT CO.,LTD merged, with SOTSU as the surviving company and SOTSU ENTERTAINMENT as the expiring company.
04/2024 Expansion of the business means that the company main office moved to 4-30-16, Ogikubo, Suginami-ku, Tokyo.
